2009 House Bill 5464

Require competitive bidding for large state leases

Introduced in the House

Sept. 24, 2009

Introduced by Rep. Rick Jones (R-71)

To require state government leases of land or buildings that cost more than $2,000 per month or have more than 25,000 square feet be put out for competitive bidding. The bill comes after intense criticism of an annual $3.7 million lease of a new State Police headquarters in downtown Lansing owned by prominent Democratic Party contributor Joel Ferguson and Republican contributor Gary Granger.
