2009 House Bill 5322

Revise executive order school funding cut formula

Introduced in the House

Sept. 9, 2009

Introduced by Rep. Tim Moore (R-97)

To revise the formula by which any per-pupil state foundation grants to schools are reduced in the event of a gubernatorial executive order cutting them due to less-than-expected tax collection revenue. State law requires the governor to execute the cuts on a pro-rated basis unless the legislature adopts a different formula. The bill would change this formula to an equal percentage of each district’s overall funding.
