To require the Department of Human Services (the state welfare agency) to verify the legal U.S. residence status of every person who applies for various kinds of welfare benefits using the federal database. The bill does not necessarily prohibit benefits if the department cannot confirm legal status, it just requires they run the check before granting benefits.
