2012 Senate Bill 1131

Revise Wayne County “land bank authority” governance

Introduced in the Senate

May 17, 2012

Introduced by Sen. Tupac Hunter (D-5)

To dissolve the board of the Wayne County “land bank authority” and replace it with a new board comprised of the county treasurer and two members appointed by the treasurer, two members appointed by the county board, and two appointed by the county executive. The bill would give the new board more explicit oversight and authority over this entity’s operations. These government “land banks” were created and given extensive powers by a 2003 law to assemble and dispose of tax reverted property.
