Introduced by Sen. Joe Hune (R) on April 18, 2012, to essentially overhaul the extensive regulatory regime governing on- and off-track horse race betting. Among other things the bill would freeze at five the number of race tracks authorized to provide betting on horse races, and authorize new taxes on this activity.
Referred to the Senate Agriculture Committee on April 18, 2012.
Reported in the Senate on May 1, 2012, with the recommendation that the substitute (S-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
