• Introduced by Rep. Andrew Kandrevas (D) on September 19, 2012, to prohibit the ownership, possession, breeding, sale, or importation of nonhuman primates (monkeys and apes) as pets. The bill authorizes exemptions for possession by zoos, veterinarians or specified officials, and “grandfathers” existing owners.
