2011 Senate Bill 320: Revise child seizure law

Public Act 163 of 2012

Rick Jones (R) on April 12, 2011, to establish new procedural safeguards in the law that allows a law enforcement officer to take a child into protective custody without a court order if there is reasonable cause to believe the child is at substantial risk or in surroundings that present an imminent risk of harm.

Our non-profit organization....CITIZENS for PARENTAL RIGHTS applauds Senator Rick Jones


for all his efforts in legislation to protect the children and families of Michigan. 


However, in discussion of SB 320, our organization found that the bill as it is presently


proposed,  leaves too many loopholes where interpretation is wide open.  In dealing with


child protection laws, they must be locked tight, leaving no room for any interpretation.
