2011 Senate Bill 293: Allow less than unlimited PIP insurance
  1. Introduced by Sen. Joe Hune (R) on March 24, 2011, to allow auto insurance companies to offer policies in which the personal injury protection (PIP) coverage is less than the mandatory unlimited coverage now provided by the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (and the price would be lower as well). This mandatory PIP coverage is billed as extra assessments on auto insurance bills.
    • Referred to the Senate Insurance Committee on March 24, 2011.

Mark my words, this bill WILL pass! The insurance companies have been running this state for the past 40 years. This bill would not exist if the insurance companies didn't want it. And if they want it, rest assured, it is NOT in our best interest! Elections have consequences. We have the nations HIGHEST rates due to those who were elected 40 years ago. Supposedly we should see a 15-40% drop in our rates. But what they aren't telling us is will that decrease be for the OVERALL rates, or just the medical portion? I would assume the latter.

Totally agree with you.  I work for a company that specializes in taking care of people with TBI.  If they pass this law then they will be homeless and I would be without a job.  I am the only one working cause my wife has a lot of physical ailments so I am the only one working.  I am sorry that this has happened to your son and I hope that they don' take his funding away.  Be strong for your son.

I work for a company taht helps take care of clients that had brain injuries due to auto accidents.  We have clients that have been in our facility since 1978.  If this bill passes they will be without the insurance to continue the care they need.  I would be without a job.  Our government does not care about us they only care about the almighty dollar.  To our senate, do the right thing and think about the people whose lives you will be destroying.  Put yourself in their shoes for once.  Would you want everything taken from you?  Vote no
