- Introduced by Sen. Bert Johnson (D) on March 24, 2011, to repeal the “driver responsibility fees” (“bad driver tax”) that are assessed for various violations and must be paid for two consecutive years, effective Jan. 1, 2012. These very expensive fees were originally adopted in 2003 to raise revenue so as avoid spending cuts in that year’s and subsequent state government budgets.

1) Re: 2011 Senate Bill 292 (Repeal “bad driver tax” ) by bapossum on April 1, 2011It's about time this Draconian penalty was repealed. It was all a money grab by the legislature to begin with. Sad to say, IF it happens, it will be thousands of dollars too late for many people who can ill afford it. But that's how you guys do it, right? Get the money from those who have little so you can give breaks to those who have much(and give large donations to politicians).
