2011 House Bill 4816

Repeal “bad driver tax” and halt collections

Introduced in the House

June 23, 2011

Introduced by Rep. Brandon Dillon (D-75)

To repeal the “driver responsibility fees” (“bad driver tax”) that are assessed for various violations and must be paid for two consecutive years. The bill would also halt all attempts to collect unpaid fines as of Jan. 1, 2012. These very expensive fees were originally adopted in 2003 to raise revenue so as avoid spending cuts in that year’s and subsequent state government budgets.
