Introduced in the House

March 22, 2011

Introduced by Rep. Patrick Somerville (R-23)

To require legislators to pay at least 20 percent of the health insurance benefits they are provided while in office. Note: In addition to these benefits, former legislators who were in office for at least six years get full health coverage beginning at age 55. The Senate Fiscal Agency reports that the average "family plan" coverage of former legislators costs the state $22,000 per year.
