2010 Senate Bill 1346 / Public Act 229

Streamline hazardous material spill regulatory regime

Introduced in the Senate

May 25, 2010

Introduced by Sen. Alan Sanborn (R-11)

To allow but not require the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to promulgate generic rules on hazardous material cleanups, and change certain definitions in the law, in conformance with the project of Senate Bills 1345 to 1349 which would replace such rules with a process by which the department would judge the adequacy of cleanups on a case-by-case basis. The bill would establish that a guideline, bulletin, interpretive statement, or operational memorandum of the DNRE could not be given the force and effect of law.

Referred to the Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the bill pass.
