Introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D) on March 11, 2010, to revise a provision of the workers’ compensation law that makes an incapacitated worker ineligible for benefits while he or she is serving time for committing a crime. Under the bill, an employer could not get out of the being liable for the benefit payments because the person was convicted of being an alien working without employment authorization or using false documents to get work.

I don't know how much you know about the Workers' Compensation system in Michigan, but it is also very unfair to legal citizens of the United States. I am permanently disabled because my ex-employer refused to address certain safety issues that they had known about for at least four years.

I wish you and other Michigan leaders would correct the flaws that are presently in the Workers' Compensation system before trying to make it more accessible to aliens. I worked all of my life as a natural born citizen and the Michigan Workers' Compensation department basically sided with my employer, while draining my savings and 401k accounts. I was forced to fight these people for five years before I ran out of money to fight any longer. I now live with 24/7 intolerable pain (since 2002) that was forced upon me by our broken system.

The least you could do would be to force the third-party "Doctors" to live up to the Hippocratic oath that they take when they become doctors instead of taking bribes from companies to lie about a worker's injuries. There are many more issues than this one, but it would take more than a day to print them here.

I am now forced to live on a fixed income and pay my outrageous medical and prescription bills (and taxes) out of my pocket because of the "broken Workers' Compensation system." Since my injury occurred, I have found that thousands of others in the U.S. have gone through the same thing that I have, and many of them live with the same 24/7 pain that I now have. A lot of these people fought with the WC system for a lot longer than I had to and are living in poverty while feeling hopeless about their lives.

I was under the impression that you, Ms. Tliab, work for the people of Michigan, not illegal immigrants. If you want to make all of these laws for illegals, then why don't you go live where they live so you can fight for them from there? I am tired of my money paying you for nothing.
