If a union member agrees to a pac deduction from his paycheck, he is reminded weekly, or however often he gets his paycheck. This is just a nuisiance requirement for unions to have to re-ask every year. If a worker wants to stop his contribution, he can at any time.

Senate Bill 830 smells. Annual permission requirement reminds the union members of where some their dues are going.

The Mackinac Center is misleading in it's presentation of this bill. Permission would be needed to take PAC money from workers paychecks even with this bill. The only change is the union would not need to ask every year. The workers can opt out of their contribution at any time.
With the Supreme Court considering giving corporations the ability to contribute massive amounts of money to politicians, it is a small matter for unions to not be required to get permission every year from their members. This is a reasonable bill and should be passed.
