Introduced by Sen. Roger Kahn (R) on September 9, 2009, to prohibit a business, commercial enterprise, employer, or state service agency from prohibiting a person who lawfully possesses a firearm from transporting or storing the gun or ammunition in a locked and privately owned motor vehicle that is parked in a parking lot, parking garage, or other designated area. The bill would extend immunity from liability to these establishments for another person’s misuse of these firearms..

  - Reported in the Senate on November 18, 2009, with the recommendation that the substitute (S-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.

Come on. A homeowner has the right to allow or deny admittance into their home, and that takes care of some casual, law abiding, unfamiliar gun toter from entering his house. Once I knocked on a neighbor's door, and he opened it with a gun in his hand because he didn't recognize me. I applauded him for willingness and readiness to protect his family. Frequently policies in the work place deny guns carrying with the penalty of dismissal for violation of the policy. As property owners, it is the right of the employer to have such policies.

All too often, the arguments against having or carrying fire arms confuse the law abiding citizen with the criminal. Laws forbidding guns only restrict citizens from self protection, simply because criminals by their nature violate laws. Laws speaks to law abiding citizens whether being watched or not, but not to criminals. Law enforcement speaks to criminals but only when it is present. Laws and law enforcement protect the citizens, but only when present. The point of the second amendment is to enable the people self protection, and as state funds to maintain law enforcement continue to dwindle, the importance of the amendment in our day may be ever increasing.

I totally agree. If an individual lawfully has a concealed/carry permit to have a firearm they should not be prohibited from having it in their vehicle for their own personal protection.
