Introduced by Sen. Tom George (R) on May 21, 2009, to require the Department of Transportation to apply to the federal government for a waiver that would allow state freeway logo sigs for “tourism attractions,” defined as services with adequate parking, restrooms, etc, and which are historic, cultural, scientific, educational, religious or agricultural sites; natural phenomena or areas of natural beauty; areas naturally suited for outdoor or indoor recreation; and shopping malls or areas.

So now the government is going to establish who gets to be a tourist attraction? Fools.

Ironically, they outlawed additional billboard "permits" because they decided they didn't like the look of billboards, now they are essentially proposing to get into the billboard advertising business themselves. Ah, how we will miss the free market.
