Why is this issue being raised at this time?  People who comit crimes deserve one thing . . . to be removed from society so that they no longer are able to hurt others.  As for health care, this should not be a cost allocated to the state.  Criminals have already cost the state too much money.  The figure that it costs about $51,000 a year to house and care for criminals is astonishing and perhaps symptomatic because it reflects on Michigan society in general.  This tells me that Michigan has a large population of dysfunctional families that produce these social misfits.
