Introduced by Sen. Samuel B. Thomas, III (D) on May 5, 2009, to force insurance companies to lower auto and homeowners insurance rates by 20 percent. Presumably companies unable to cover costs and anticipated claims at the lower price, or unwilling to accept the lower return on investment, would be prohibited from selling insurance in Michigan after the mandate is imposed.

What a great idea! Let's eliminate ALL OF OUR CHOICES so that ultimately we will end up paying more . . . Oh yeah, let's have the government help us out some more. Please just let private industry remain PRIVATE!
