Introduced by Sen. Ron Jelinek (R) on April 30, 2009, to transfer programs currently managed by the Department of History, Arts, and Libraries to other state departments, mostly the Secretary of State. The legislative package (Senate Bills 503 to 527) would abolish the department and retain almost all of it’s programs in other agencies as proposed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, but details of which programs go to which agency differ. This bill revises references to HAL in the Freedom of Information Act.
Referred to the Senate Commerce & Tourism Committee on April 30, 2009.
Reported in the Senate on August 27, 2009, with the recommendation that the bill pass.
