- Introduced by Sen. Gretchen Whitmer (D) on April 29, 2009, to authorize penalties of between $5,000 and $25,000 depending on the number of employees for an employer who pays different wages to men and women who are “similarly employed.” The bill also removes from the law a provision stating that, "No female shall be assigned any task disproportionate to her strength, nor shall she be employed in any place detrimental to her morals, her health or her potential capacity for motherhood".

"No female shall be assigned any task disproportionate to her strength".
So if the job is to load materials onto a truck, and the man can lift 50 pounds per trip, and the woman is only required to load 25 pounds per trip, at the end of the day the man loads twice as much product as the woman, but the woman is paid the same even though her production is half? Does it apply to the weight of fire hoses, ladders, etc? This 'proposed' law is ridiculous.
