Introduced by Sen. Roger Kahn (R) on January 27, 2009, to require the Department of Community Health to create a web site listing the 150 most common drugs used by the state’s medical assistance program and certain other drugs; the “usual and customary” price paid under that medical assistance program; the location of a nearby pharmacy where a person who logs on to the web site can buy the drugs at that price; and other information related to drugs. Also, to require the department to maintain a toll-free telephone number that would give out information on government prescription drug subsidy and information programs.

Many of our senior citizens NEED something like this! They are on limited budgets, often have to pay for some of their drugs out of pocket because we have such a poorly designed drug, and have no way to know what they should be charged or where to go. Lets get this impemented ASAP.

I agree. Consumers have the right to know what they are being charged for their perscription medications. And also should be able to shop for better pricing.

I think this bill is a great way to educate the public about how much their drugs are going to cost them. So that way if they have to pay cash for their drugs they can have an idea of how much it's going to cost. I also think it would be a good idea to list comparable medications that may be cheaper so that the general public can be informed of alternatives that can be more affordable for them.
