2009 Senate Bill 392 (Establish enhanced penalty for assault on elderly )

Introduced by Sen. Ray Basham (D) on March 18, 2009, to authorize enhanced penalties of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine for aggravated assault against a person age 80 or older. These penalties would be on top of those for the underlying offence. Aggravated assault is considered assault with a gun, revolver, pistol, knife, iron bar, club, brass knuckles, or other dangerous weapon, but without intending to commit murder or to inflict great bodily harm.

law that only effects a small group is bad law. try taking away eligability for early release if you wish to give violent people longer sentences, but do it for every victim, not just a few victims.

Admin, You are in 2009 not 2001. Sen. Ray Basham (D) has created a very good bill to protect our Seniors from home invasions and other criminal acts, but this should cover the lawful age of 62 (Seniors) on up, and again Senators please support Senator's Ray Basham preposed Senate Bill 392 (Establish enhanced penalty for assault on the Elderly).
