Introduced by Sen. Ron Jelinek (R) on March 12, 2009 To appropriate up to $500,000 to pay for the remonumentation of the Michigan-Indiana state line proposed by Senate Bill 374. The money would not come from a state "Land Survey and Remonumentation Fund" created for projects like this, and funded by a fee imposed on recording deeds (originally $2 per deed, but increased to $4 by House Bill 6490 of 2002). That's in part because the fund was depleted in a "fund raid" by the legislature for $15 million in 2006 to avoid spending cuts and reforms. Official Text and Analysis.
