Introduced by Sen. Valde Garcia (R) on March 12, 2009, to require cell phone companies to let military personnel called to active duty for at least 180 days out of their cell phone contract without penalties. This would also apply to the service member’s spouse.

I'm all for supporting the troops and think this is a good idea, except, who is going to pay the cell phone companies? There is a reason for contracts. Presumably cell phone purchases are front loaded and the companies make up the initial cost through long term contracts. If this is a good idea, we should all pay the cost, not just the cell phone companies.
