Introduced by Sen. Bruce Patterson (R) on March 10, 2009, to prohibit health insurance providers or plans from acting on a drug company’s behalf by paying or providing incentives to doctors to use or not use particular drugs, subject to a $25,000 fine. The bill also would impose annual reporting requirements.

I think this bill is a very good idea. It is about time that physicians started thinking about which medications will benefit the patients the most and not which one will give them the biggest payout. I am very glad that the government is trying to do something to pull healthcare workers out from under the thumb of the drug companies.
