 This makes sense but should only be the first step.


If someone is qualified in other areas... they should also be allowed to teach using the same criteria (mastery of the skill)


This makes sense for business matters, skilled labor classes, and even artistic endeavors.  There is no need for certification by the state if the instructor has the skills to teach.  There is certainly a lack of "real world" experience in our schools, and this bill could be the first step in fixing that problem.

2) 2009 Senate Bill 1014 (Create Native American language teacher certification exception )  by admin on January 1, 2001 
Introduced in the Senate on December 10, 2009, to provide an exception to Michigan’s teacher certification requirements that would allow a school to hire an uncertified person to teach a Native American tribal language and culture class, if a federally recognized tribe indicates that the person has demonstrated mastery of the tribal language, or this is demonstrated in some other way

The vote was 34 in favor, 0 opposed and 4 not voting
