Introduced by Rep. Tom McMillin (R) on February 17, 2009, to place before voters in the next general election a Constitutional amendment to establish that would dock legislator’s pay the last two weeks of the year if the state unemployment rate has been above the national average for the first 10 months of the year, and dock them another two weeks if it’s been higher than 90 percent of the other states’.

oh... i don't know.. it might work to get them to focus on the job of lowering taxes, reducing fees, cutting red tape, and generally promoting a more BUSINESS FRIENDLY atmosphere.

perhaps they SHOULD be punished for undoing all the good work that has come before, replacing it with leftist obstructionism.

Legislators are not the sole reason for high unemployment rates, and should not be punished for a bad economy, which has many contributing factors. I'm all for keeping our representatives accoutable to us, but this sounds more like an attention grabing gimmick than a solution to high unemployment rates.
