Introduced by Rep. Paul Opsommer (R) on January 22, 2009, to place before voters in the next general election a Constitutional amendment to prohibit legislative salary raises that exceed the average pay increase for other state employees, or the consumer price index, whichever is lower.

It definitely doesn't go far enough. They should not be getting raises. They should be CUTTING their pay. How many state workers are going to lose their jobs? 2,000? 3,000? I'm sure the rest will not get a raise either, along with MANY other workers in this state, lucky enough to still have a JOB. Allowing ANY KIND of increase is deplorable, whether it's linked to state employees or the consumer price index.

how about we just prohibit ANY pay increases for legislators till all this mess is SOLVED?

GOOD MOVE, it just doesn't move FAR ENOUGH.
