- Introduced by Rep. Pete Lund (R) on October 22, 2009, credit to authorize a Michigan Business Tax credit for restaurants that choose to ban smoking. The credit would last for five years and would be based on the decline in the restaurant’s gross receipts following the smoking ban.

Sad that anyone with the little "r" after their name would use our funds to bribe others' behavior.
At least it isn't forcing the issue, it gives businesses the choice...
BUT it still is not the government's role to take our money, then give it to those who agree with them.
WAIT - I thought the non-smoking groups said that sales go UP when the smoking ban is in place?
