2009 House Bill 5500: Mandate disclosure of school spending instruction percentages

Introduced by Rep. Marty Knollenberg (R) on October 7, 2009, to require school districts to annually report to the Department of Education the percentage of their operations budgets that is actually spent on instruction (rather than administration or other functions), and require the department to post this on the internet. “Instruction” is broadly defined, using a U.S. Department of Education standard.

This will probably die in commitee. Too many politicians are beholden to the education lobbys and I'm sure they would be reluctant to want that information made public. Also, why not include community colleges in the bill. I would be interested to see how many are paying for two presidents.
