Marriage is a RELIGIOUS RITE!!

By what authority does the government have to regulate, license, or permis, the RELIGIOUS RITE of Americans.

Marriage laws came about after the Civil War. They were created to allow the government to deny interacial couples the ability to marry.

These laws should be repealed. They are racist in intent, and used to continue discrimination.

They also violate the first amendment.
Employ a conservative market-driven approach.  Repeal Michigan's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage; statutorily allow same sex marriage in the state.  This would increase demand for marriage licenses, rather than reduce it by boosting fees.  Dedicate additional marriage license fees collected through market expansion to "more family counseling."
Much better idea.
