• Introduced by Rep. Mark Meadows (D) on June 16, 2009, to prohibit health insurance companies and HMOs from applying more restrictive conditions on coverage for “biologically based) mental health treatment than those that apply to other health coverage. The bill’s provisions would not apply if an insurer or HMO demonstrated after six months that they increased claims costs by more than 1 percent.
