Introduced by Rep. Jon Switalski (D) on April 2, 2009, to exempt from state income tax a cash damage award paid to an individual wrongly imprisoned for a crime he or she did not commit. See also House Bill 4790, which authorizes monetary damages for wrongful imprisonment.

Hey Jon,

How about we do something for the unemployed like make their benefits tax free? We now have 12.6% unemployed who are struggling to make their mortgage payments, put food on the table, buy clothes for their kids, you know, the usual stuff. The false arrests can wait!
