2009 House Bill 4719: Authorize subsidies for selected auto industry suppliers
  1. Introduced by Rep. Mike Huckleberry (D) on March 26, 2009, to revise the law that allowed the state to borrow $400 million against future tobacco lawsuit settlement proceeds, to also allow borrowing against this future revenue stream to pay for the $250 million in auto industry supplier subsidies proposed by House Bill 4126. As introduced the bill is essentially a “placeholder,” since it increases the allowable borrowing by just $1 million, but it could be amended later to allow more debt for this purpose.   Full Text and Analysis.
