Introduced by Rep. Kimberly Meltzer (R) on March 18, 2009, to require school districts to post on their web sites comprehensive data on their spending, including the total budget; the number of students and employees; details of spending by school board members and administrators including district-paid travel; details of service contracts that exceed $100,000, or $25,000 for contracts that were not competitively bid; compensation details for employees who are in the highest 3 percent of all school employees; details of all amounts spent for lobbying, public relations and legal services; details on the level of administrative spending and spending on vehicles; details of contracts and other business relationships in which school board members or administrators may have a personal interest; and more.

PASS THIS BILL AND I will bet these districts will stop wasting money; of coursr there is no one at the state level doing any real auditing. It's like asking the chicken hawk to watch the chickens.

yes, we do have the right to know, but so far, we haven't. obviously 'we the people' aren't that important to those who spend our money.

What an outstanding piece of legislation! How can anyone argue against spending transparency? We have the right to know how our money is being spent.
