Introduced by Rep. Fred Miller (D) on February 24, 2009, to impose new regulations on medical waste disposal procedures, expand the list of entities subject to these regulations, require new medical waste treatment technology to be reviewed and approved by the state, and more. The bill also increases the fees and regulations on health care providers and other entities that generate medical waste, and it adds to the Public Health Code the same registration and regulation of “trauma scene waste management practitioners” that is proposed by House Bill 4458.
