2009 House Bill 4406: Require reporting of mother’s ethnicity in abortions

Public Act 117 of 2010

  1. Introduced by Rep. John Espinoza (D) on February 24, 2009, to require the report to the state that physicians must file after performing an abortion to include the ethnicity of the mother if she is Hispanic.

      • Reported in the House on October 20, 2009, without amendment and with the recommendation that the bill pass.
    • Substitute offered by Rep. John Espinoza (D) on April 20, 2010, to replace the previous version of the bill with one that revises details but does not change the substance as previously described. The substitute passed by voice vote in the House on April 20, 2010.

 it would appear, inform, that the government simply wishes to create a list of the ethnicity of the recipients of abortions. this is the same thinking as creating a list of gun owners. seemingly harmless, unless you are on the list.

 What business is it of the state to find out the ethnic background of an aborting mother?  Even though I do not believe in abortion I have no right to force my beliefs upon another.  What concerns me more about this bill is that it especially mandates reporting if the mother is of Hispanic origin.  Is this how Rep. John Espinoza (D) views equity?  Sig Heil - Big Brother!
