• Introduced by Sen. Mark Schauer (D) on September 18, 2008, to charge companies with contracts to extract oil or gas from state owned lands rent on the land at prices ranging from $2 to $30 per acre per year. The Department of Natural Resources could agree to reduce the rent at its option under a “unitization” agreement. See also Senate Bills 1520 and 1521.
