Introduced by Sen. Patricia Birkholz (R) on September 16, 2008, to require and establish regulations for the periodic inspection of “on-site” wastewater treatment systems, which are systems relying on natural processes or mechanical components to collect, treat, and discharge or reclaim wastewater from one or more dwellings or buildings without the use of a sewerage system, including individual systems, community systems, and commercial systems that use subsurface dispersal.
Referred to the Senate Natural Resources & Environmental Affairs Committee on September 16, 2008.
1) Septic tank inspection by Mike Hignite on September 22, 2008 I am in favor of state legislators personally inspecting the inside of my septic tank. I put up with their sh*t, so they can put up with mine. Reply
2) LIMITED USEFULNESS by Anonymous Citizen on September 18, 2008 Inspections are frequently done and paid for by a buyer; however, the inspectors generally state only that the system is either inadequate, or that it is functioning currently but they can't determine how long into the future it will continue to work properly. Requiring inspections is unnecessary and of very limited usefulness. This would simply be an additional cost and hindrance to homeowners or buyers while our housing market is already in difficulty.
