Introduced by Sen. Valde Garcia (R) on April 15, 2008, to revise the definition of “Spanish speaking” persons and populations in the law that created a state government Commission on Spanish-Speaking Affairs, and require this commission to “coordinate a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration” in addition to its current duties. These include securing "appropriate recognition of Spanish-speaking accomplishments,” advising the governor and legislature on the “coordination of state programs serving Spanish-speaking people” and on “the nature, magnitude, and priorities of the problems of Spanish-speaking people," etc.
Referred to the Senate Local, Urban, & State Affairs Committee on April 15, 2008.

How about looking at it like this. Press one for English, press two to hang up until you learn English! If you need to here this message in Spanish, move to a country that speaks it!
2) A big waste by Anonymous Citizen on April 24, 2008 Don't we have much bigger problems in this state to address? Another reason for a part time legislature so you people stop wasting taxpayers time and money. Fix the states problem first before we do this "feel good" stuff. Reply
3) More diversity BS! by Anonymous Citizen on April 23, 2008 How about teaching them ENGLISH, if they're here legally? And if not-well, you know the answer. Stop taking my tax dollars to pander to hispanics. I want a German-Ancestry Heritage Month! Reply
