- Introduced by Sen. Michael Switalski (D) on March 11, 2008, to prohibit an employer from firing an employee who is a volunteer EMT or a firefighter because of absence or lateness caused by responding to an emergency. Fired employees could sue for full reinstatement and back wages.

My current employer is trying to discipline me currently for being late for a call that I was on yesterday. I wish Michigan had a law that protected us like a few other states I have read about do.
