Introduced by Sen. Michael Switalski (D) on March 5, 2008, to allow counties to shift property tax levies for public transportation millage, county park millage, drain debt millage and others to the summer tax bill. The bill appears to authorize advancing certain winter tax levies forward by five months beginning in 2008, which in accounting terms has the effect of essentially causing a permanent reduction in a taxpayer’s net worth equivalent to 5/12ths of the taxpayer’s annual liability for the accelerated millages.
Referred to the Senate Finance Committee on March 5, 2008.
1) How About by Anonymous Citizen on March 7, 2008 you pay all your bills for the next 6 months next tuesday? Reply
2) these are taxes we voted for by Anonymous Citizen on March 7, 2008 While I appreciate paying less in taxes, this bill is talking about county taxes we voted for -- senior citizens, parks, etc. So your quotes, although interesting, are somewhat off topic. Reply
3) I wouldn't notice by Anonymous Citizen on March 7, 2008 My winter tax bill was under $50. I wouldn't notice if it moved to the summer bill. Most of us wouldn't remember whether our summer bill was $50 more or less. Right now, without looking, how much was your summer tax bill? You get my point. If it's one less bill for me to pay, I say do it! Reply
