Introduced by Rep. Paul Condino (D) on July 23, 2008, to extend to other local governments the law that authorizes the city of Lansing and Kent County to levy a to levy a 2 percent hotel and motel rooms tax to support marketing and promotion programs.

Wow....this is bad news for Southfield Hotels to add more taxes would take us into an adverse competitive situation with Detroit hotels. This in addition to the 2000+ newly or soon to open hotels in downtown would definitely hurt our economic viability, which by the way is not very strong in this economy.
