2008 House Bill 6177: Revise charter school board selection process
  1. Introduced by Rep. Mary Valentine (D) on May 22, 2008, to eliminate the authority of a charter school authorizing body to determine the qualifications and select the method of appointment or election for the school’s board of directors, and instead allow parents to nominate candidates and elect the board.

As a parent who has had to deal with Charter School Boards with NO parental direction, I find it refreshing that the legislature is considering making it mandatory that parents are part of the process. After all in Public education the board members are elected!
