Introduced by Rep. Lorence Wenke (R) on April 22, 2008, to require legislators to pay 25 percent of the cost of the health benefits the state provides them, and eliminate a statutory provision granting legislators $2,500 annual expense allowances. Note: Although it is not mandated by statute, the legislature currently gives members a $12,000 annual expense allowance, in addition to their $79,650 salary, health insurance and post-retirement health care benefits.
