Can someone update me on what happened to this bill? All I can see on the Michigan Senate page is that the bill was last referred to the State Finance committee in October 2007. I hope that it has not stalled there. I would like to bring this to the attention of my State Representatives.

Volunteer and part paid firefighters deserve this deduction greatly. For some, the costs (gas, equipment, vehicle maintenace, training, lost wages from their primary occupation, etc,)  of being a firefighter often exceeds the pay they recieve. Especially those that are starting out, it can cost more to be a firefighter than what they take in, and be a net loss. On top of that, then currently they are taxed for the payments they do recieve.

Higher gas prices are making volunteer firefighting a real strain on the wallet. Please get this passed.
