Michelle McManus (R) on January 25, 2007, to name Highway M-55 where it begins in Manistee County to the intersection with US-131 in Cadillac the "Gold Star Mothers Memorial Highway." Mothers of fallen servicemen been have known as Gold Star Mothers since a service flag displaying that symbol was authorized in their honor in World War 1.
