Introduced by Sen. Hansen Clarke (D) on June 27, 2007, to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the protected classes covered under the Michigan felonious intimidation law, which makes it a crime to maliciously and with specific intent intimidate or harass another person because of that person's race, color, religion, gender, or national origin. The bill also authorizes consecutive sentences (vs. concurrent sentences) for felonious intimidation convictions in addition to sentences for any other felony conviction that arises out of the same incident.
