Introduced by Sen. Jud Gilbert (R) on January 24, 2007, to allow local governments to prohibit the use of truck compression brakes (“jake brakes”) on portions of state trunkline highways within their jurisdictions and that are within 200 yards of a residential area.

1) Jake brakes are too loud by Anonymous Citizen on July 9, 2008 I live in Charlotte near a major intersection. When a semi-truck approaches the traffic light and the light turns red, these semi-trucks love to use their jake brakes. They shake the house and are very loud. We get this noise from all 4 directions. The city of Charlotte will do nothing about it. I am for this law. Reply
