

how about really thinking this through and getting rid of "gun free zones" altogether?
they only tell the criminals where the people will be unarmed, and thus more vulnerable. is this what you really want the law to do?

I'm inclined to agree with Rep. Bieda.
Additionally, I object to creating specially privileged classes of people -- in this case, judges, who would qualify for this privilege only because they happen to be judges.

Rep. Bieda, having reserved the right to explain his protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement:
“Mr. Speaker and members of the House:
I voted ‘no’ on SB 505 (H-3) for the simple reason that we should consider the usefulness of a weapons free-zone when we allow exceptions. Perhaps the better approach would be to review the entire concept of weapons free zones rather than allow specific exceptions.”
